Christmas Weddings

Great use of wine glasses
Planning a Christmas themed wedding? One centerpiece idea is to put Christmas bulbs under wine glasses with a candle on top. Another option would be to put bulbs or candy canes in a jar.

Hot chocolate favors + peppermint
For a Christmas themed wedding peppermints or hot chocolate would be fun favors or treats during the reception.

Light

Need more light for your ceremony? Adding lanterns to the end of each pew is a great stylish way to add more light. Either setting it on the floor or tying a small lantern to the the end of the pew with ribbon will add more light to the space and it's a great decoration as well. To save money you can use these at the ceremony and then use them for center pieces at the reception.
Love how the flowers sit on top of the pew

If your looking for more of a  beach style you can fill a jar with some sand and place a candle in it. If the space doesn't allow candles, try battery operated candles.

outdoor lighting on patio...just use old glass pickle, spaghetti, etc. jars

Meet the Bridal Party

Meet the Maids.. very cute!!

Do you want to let your guests know a little more about the special people you chose to stand up next to you the day of your wedding?

In the program you could have a special insert or section dedicated to a small paragraph about your bridal party.

Another option would be to have a table at your reception with a picture frame of each member of the bridal party with or without you and tell why that person is so important to you that you wanted them included in your day. If you did this option then you could always give it to the person as a special thank you gift.

RSVP Cards

Would you like to have your guests help pick out songs to play at your reception? One way to do this is to add a line on your RSVP card for them to request a song. If you want to make your RSVP cards a little more entertaining than the typical how many are coming and a meal option you can have them fill in the blanks to a story like below.
Hilarious RSVP cards

Late Night Snack

It's getting late into the reception and the cake has been cut, the first dances are done, and dinner has been ate. Your guests have been dancing for sometime and start to get hungry again. While some couples may have a nacho bar or sliders for a late night snack maybe you would prefer to do a Waffle Bar.
Love the butcher paper idea for any build your own ______ type set up
Another fun option would be to have a Smores bar.
S'mores bar at a wedding reception is so fun and will bring out the inner child in you! #s'mores #wedding #events #reception

Wedding Favors

Looking for a wedding favor that your guests can use at the reception? One idea for an outdoor reception would be to provide guests with a pair of sunglasses. It makes for some fun photo opportunities and keeps the sun out of your guests eyes!
ahahahaha, awesome. in case its outside
Another option would be to provide a basket of flip flops in a variety of sizes for each guest. This is a great way to help make your guests comfortable and get out on the dance floor. If they are in a pair of comfortable dancing shoes they may be more likely to stay out on the dance floor much longer!

Another one I probably wouldnt do but would be so cute if someone else did!

String of Lights

A cute way to add additional lighting a space is using a string of twinkle lights. Instead of using clear lights you could also get strands of your wedding colors to keep with the theme!
DIY backdrop- Strings of mini-lights attached to a rod behind sheer fabric.
For example, behind the head table you can string lights down the wall and place a piece of fabric over the top of it. Another idea would be to string lights underneath the table and cover it up, this makes the table stand out and adds a little light to the reception hall.

Guest Book Ideas

If your looking for something different for a guestbook instead of the normal book with signatures? One unique idea is to have little wooden hearts that guests can sign and slide into a wooden frame. Have a larger one with the bride and grooms name that they can slide in as well.

Adorable Guest Book idea: guests sign their name on a little wooden heart and drop it in a shadow box frame.
Want something to do with your engagement pictures? Create a photo album but leave blank pages or empty space where guests can flip through the photo album and sign anywhere they like.
Turn engagement photos into a book and have guest sign instead of a guestbook!
Another idea is to get a cheap plate from the dollar store and write in the center of it the couple's name and wedding date, and let the guests sign all around it. If your expecting a large number of guests, you could do a platter, or have multiple plates that they can sign.
DIY Plate Guestbook for only a dollar! A fun alternative to the traditional guestbook. Have guests write their "well wishes" directly on the plate! #guestbook #bridalshower #wedding #weddingshower

Wedding Bands

A couple had their wedding rings engraved with a waveform of their own voices saying “I do.” The rings are made by designer Sakura Koshimizu

My husband sent me an article recently about how a couple recorded their voices saying I love you and had the sound waves engraved in rings that are now their wedding bands. I thought this was a really cool way to make the wedding bands unique and all about the couple.

Birdseed, balloons, or sprinkles?

Throw sprinkles instead of rice for weddings! Cute idea, they say the pictures turn out amazing!

Are you looking for something different for your guests to throw as you walk out of the church? I'm sure you've been to weddings where they throw the traditional items after the ceremony like birdseed, balloons, or ribbons. The new trend throws a splash of color after the ceremony. Couples are starting to have ribbons in their wedding colors waved as they walk through the guests to their get away car. Sprinkles or biodegradable confetti are a couple of other colorful items being thrown as the newlyweds exit.

Confetti!

Wedding Programs

Are you looking for something different than the ordinary program for a wedding? You may stick with a traditional program, but want to give your guests something to read while they wait for the ceremony to begin. Or maybe you just want to do away with a traditional program all together.

So you're going to sit through a wedding: the funniest wedding program evar | Offbeat Bride
One option is to do a pamphlet that is broken out step by step and tells you exactly what to expect from the moment you get the pamphlet to the end of the reception. Guests will find it entertaining, but very informational at the same time.
have this waiting for guests on their chairs for them to read while waiting for the ceremony to start
Another option is to have an insert in the program with the couple's story. It's nice if maybe family friends or coworkers may not know how the couple met. This gives guests a chance to get to know more about the couples relationship.

Flower Girls and Ring Bearers

Do you have a flower girl, but the church doesn't allow flower petals to be thrown? Other options besides the tradition of flower girls throwing flower petals down the aisle are:

  • Carry a bouquet of flowers
  • Hand fresh cut flowers to the people on the ends of the aisle
  • Carry a sign that says here comes the bride or all you need is love

This sign would be bigger then my peanut. but still cute! Weddings signs Uncle HERE COMES your BRIDE by SignSimplicity, $27.95

If your looking for something different for your ring bearer have the ring bearer:

  • Carry the rings in a box that looks like a safe or that says ring security
  • Wear sun glasses
  • Wear an ear piece

ring bearer! AHHH doing this

Kids Table

Deciding whether to have an adult only reception or a reception that welcomes all ages doesn’t have to be a tough decision. Some view kids at the reception as a daunting idea with the screaming and crying all night long, but it doesn’t have to be like that!
kids table.
One thing you can do is place a table in a corner of the room with games and coloring books for children. Having options rather than just dancing will help keep children happy and entertained throughout the reception.
Great idea for all those non dancers.

Another idea is to have all the kids sit at one table during the reception. You can have their table kid friendly with a different fun center piece such as candy or toys. Place puzzles and games at their table that they can do during the reception.

Pew Decorations

When it came to decorations for the church for my wedding, I didn't really want to do too many . It was pretty the way it was and whenever I thought of decorations for the church it always came back to flowers and maybe bows. I wanted something unique, and that's when I found Pintterest. To decorate the pews at our wedding we ended up tying ribbon to baby pictures of us on either side all the way up to when we started dating. You could also do just pictures while of the couple while they were dating or engagement pictures.

Another option I saw was similar to the photos, but with quotes or bible verses like 'Love is patient, Love is kind.'

Another cool idea, is to have small lanterns hang from the pew with a battery operated candle in it. This is also a great way to add a little extra light.
